Can I have Long, Beautiful, Healthy Hair?
YES YOU CAN!! Here is how: A Regular Trim Will Keep it Healthy.
Long hair: Some people love it some people don’t. Everyone has different preferences when it comes to hair length. Men usually think that long hair on a woman is the ONLY kind of style that looks good. Many women cling to their long locks for the same reason. Whatever the reasons, most people with long hair are adamant about keeping it long. This is a good thing, as long as the hair is HEALTHY!
The longer the hair is, the longer it's been exposed to the tortures we put our hair through every day. The sun, wind, blow-drying, pony-tail holders, harsh shampoos, smog, pillows, and even poor diet can all take their toll on hair. In order to keep your hair looking healthy, even if it's long, you MUST keep it trimmed.
On average, hair grows at a rate of about 1/2 inch per month, and typically the hair should be trimmed every 6-8 weeks to help maintain it healthy. Those of you who have a short cut and want to grow it out, it can be done! Just ask for a "clean-up". This means trimming only what is necessary every 6-8 weeks. Keep in mind that if you are hard on your hair, it may require more off the ends.
This brings us to the issue of split ends. Most everyone has them but it more of a common problem for those with long hair. Split-ends can be treated with protein rich conditioners to strengthen the hair, (I prefer Aquage Healing Conditioner) and with anti-frizz serums, like Aquage Ultra Shine Complex, that coat the hair and bind the ends back together temporarily. But sometimes, trimming is necessary to remove these splits before they get worse. With long, blunt-cut hair, trimming the ends of the hair is a simple matter of following the established line and removing the damaged ends. Yet with long-layered hairstyles, there is an alternative that works especially well.
Also keep in mind that if you choose to delay your cut because you want your hair to grow out, you will cause more damage. If there are split ends that are not properly dealt with, they will travel up the hair shaft and cause your hair to look frizzy, frayed and thinned out at the ends.
By keeping your hair trimmed on a regular basis, the result will be smoother, healthier looking hair with an awesome style!

From LA to Austin- The Beach Wave Look
CLICK HERE to go directly to the blog.
One of the hottest trends in Hollywood is the Beach Wave Hair. I’m not talking the “curl look”, but how Vanessa Hudgens, Carmen Electra, Kate Hudson and Blake Lively wear their hair. I’m often asked “How do I get that Beach Wave Look”? Here is the step by step explanation on how to achieve it.
Tools you’ll need: 10-20 cloth covered rubber bands, flat iron or curling iron, comb, and thermal protector and flexible hold hair spray.
Length of hair: Shoulder length or longer.
Step 1: Start with your hair dry and clean. Spray thermal protector and comb through. Braid hair into sections. Larger braids mean bigger waves and smaller braids mean tighter waves. Braid the entire head and secure the ends with rubber bands.
Step 2: Once the hair is braided, run the flat iron from the top of the braid to the bottom or you can curl the braids if you don’t want to have straight ends. For more hold, lightly mist braids with flexible hold hairspray. Flat iron or curl each and every braid. Let the braids cool for 5 minutes to allow the braids to set.
Step 3: Once the braids are cooled down, spray the braids with hairspray once more and remove the rubber bands. Undo each braid then comb through hair using your fingers to soften the waves. Then mist with hairspray to set the style and you are ready for a night on the town! For added drama try a cool head band or a chic clip.
Stop by MarBella Hair Studio to ask me about the Aquage Thermal Protector and Hair Spray you should use to achieve this look and bring this HOT trend to Austin.

Tame your Summer Frizz
CLICK HERE to go directly to the blog.
Love the sunshine, barbecues, and concerts in the park—but I hate your summer hair? What to do with your frizzy mop during summer.
You shouldn’t expect a string of “great” hair days in August, but it is possible to leave the house with a perfectly acceptable “do”.
Slicking hair back is the simplest, but it’s a severe look that’s not for everyone. One approach is blow-drying the hairline so that there’s a soft look around the face, then pulling the rest of your hair back into a neat ponytail to get it off your neck.
I suggest taking a non combative stance toward your hair. If it’s curly, go with it. After your shower, gently squeeze out (don’t wring) excess water with a towel, distribute a good-size glop of de-frizz gel like: Aquage Defining Gel, then twist pieces of hair around your fingers and air-dry. Don’t brush it, or you’ll be right back where you started: frizzy.
Another humidity-beating trick is to part the hair down the center and twist each side into a neat bun secured with a large bobby pin. Apply an anti frizz crème like Aquage Curl Defining Crème after showering and then scrunching pieces from the bottom up. A quick shakeout once it’s dried and a little silicone on the ends, should give hair a natural but still groomed look.
How you cut and wash your makes a difference, too. Get a summertime cut that focuses on removing bulk, so there’s less hair to frizz; to keep it from drying out. I recommend a Aquage Silkening Shampoo that smooths and silkens course and curly hair.
All hair gurus agree that weekly deep-conditioning is key this time of year. Zerran’s Omni Pak Protein Hair Reconstructor, is the ultimate deep reconstructor designed for dry, damaged hair. Omni Pak contains soy proteins and moisture lipids to bring new life to normal, chemically processed or damaged hair.
And for that added layer of protection, don’t forget to make an appointment for your deep-conditioning treatment.
